About me

Dr Anna Kartecza-Hughes — Consultant Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, with over 20 years supporting adults, young people and families across clinical and forensic settings.

Dr Anna Kartecza-Hughes

I’m a Consultant Clinical and Forensic Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience supporting adults, young people and families — across hospitals, community services, charities, local authorities, the police and the criminal justice system, often with people navigating complex or vulnerable circumstances.

I specialise in neurodivergent conditions, including ADHD and autism spectrum conditions, alongside trauma, personality disorders and a range of psychiatric presentations such as depression, anxiety, psychosis and schizophrenia. My approach draws on evidence-based modalities — EMDR, DBT and CBT — alongside holistic practices including Recall Healing, Reiki and other energetic techniques, tailored to what each client actually needs. I’m also interested in the role of the microbiome in mental health, and how physical health and nutrition connect to psychological wellbeing.

Working across the Asian, British and Polish communities, and other underrepresented groups, has shaped how I practise — inclusivity and cultural sensitivity aren’t an add-on, they’re part of how I understand what’s actually going on for someone.

Alongside one-to-one work, I run group sessions on trauma recovery, anxiety management and DBT skills, and supervise and mentor assistant psychologists. I work closely with psychiatrists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and other health professionals, so clients get joined-up, comprehensive care.

I work with individuals, couples, families and groups. In Oxfordshire, I currently run an autism diagnostic service for children and adults, alongside group therapy for drug and alcohol users and people working through codependency.

I’m registered with the HCPC, BPS and PPA, working to their ethical standards, with regular supervision, ongoing professional development, and full insurance.
